Eid al-Adha

Acts of Eid al-Adha

The day of Eid al-Adha is a virtuous day that has special actions, which include:

Ghusl: According to Allameh Majlisi, ghusl on Eid al-Adha is a strict Sunnah to the extent that some scholars have considered it obligatory.[12] It is better to perform ghusl before prayer.[13]

Eid prayer: This prayer is strongly recommended during the absence of Imam al-Zaman (AS) according to the famous fatwa of Shiite jurists.[14]

It is recommended to read the prayers that were entered before and before the Eid prayer. According to Allameh Majlisi, the best prayer on this day is the forty-eighth prayer of the Sajjadiyyah and the forty-sixth prayer.[15]

Nadba prayer: Reciting Nadba prayer on this day, like other holidays, is recommended [16].

Sacrifice: Sacrifice is obligatory for pilgrims present in Mecca and recommended for other Muslims. Some scholars have considered it obligatory for those who have the ability.[17] It is recommended to eat a little of the meat of the sacrifice after the Eid prayer.[18]

According to a tradition of Imam Sadiq (a.s.) it is recommended to read this prayer when making a sacrifice: ” «وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِی لِلَّذی فَطَرَ السَّمواتِ وَ الارْضَ، حَنیفاً مُسْلِماً وَ ما أنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِکینَ، إنَّ صَلاتی وَ نُسُکی وَ مَحْیای وَ مَماتی لِلّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمینَ، لا شَریک لَهُ، وَ بِذلِک أُمِرْتُ وَ أَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمینَ. اَللّهُمَّ مِنْک وَلَک، بِسْمِ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ اَکبَرُ. اَللّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنّی»[۱۹]

Saying the famous takbirs: For those who are in the Hajj and the desert of Mina, read these takbirs after the daily prayers, that is, starting from the noon prayer on the day of Eid until the morning prayer on the 13th day; But those who are not there, pray them after ten prayers, starting from the noon prayer on the day of Eid, until the morning prayer on the twelfth day.

Fasting on the day of Eid al-Adha, like Eid al-Fitr, is forbidden.[22]
