How did Ashura day go?

At this time, one of the enemies came and severed the Imam’s head. A person named Kholi took him to Kufa to Ibn Ziyad to get a reward.
The enemy army attacked the tents and set them on fire. And the afflicted and frightened women and children were whipped and looted. Then Ibn Saad, the commander of the army, ordered to cut off the heads of all the martyrs and put spears on their heads and take them to Yazid.

Ibn Sa’d also ordered: ten horsemen with fresh horseshoes will go over the pure bodies of the martyrs and tear them to pieces. Then he ordered the survivors of Imam Hussain’s caravan to pass by the torn bodies so that their hearts would be refreshed. They left their bodies in the desert and moved towards Kufa.
On the day of Ashura, 72 of Imam’s faithful companions were martyred, and now their graves are Shiites’ shrines, and every year Shiites honor the memory of these brave men with mourning.
